CHAIRS, TABLES AND CUB CARS OH MY!

Hello, it’s me, Ben and the past two weeks of meetings in Cubs we were building chairs & tables along with finishing Kub Kars for those who had not yet completed this task! The pack was split into thirds, one doing chairs, another doing tables and one doing Kub Kars.

In Cubs we are making chairs and tables out of wood, i mean how cool is that!?

The chairs are for sitting on at campfires and are made using some wood and fabric. The chairs are kind of formed in an x shape and the style is called a Viking Chair. To use the chair, where you sit slides through a gap between the backrest, so it’s angled where you’re tilted up and the bottom is wedged into the ground for stability.

The tables we made consist of wood, nails and little pegs to connect the pieces to make a sliding motion to fold into a compact table. It’s like magic how we can make these sorts of things!

The last third of the Cubs were making their Kub Kars. These Cubs didn’t go to the Regional Rally in Burlington back in March, so they were playing catch up.  Very soon, the 3rd Waterdown Cubs will be having their own Kub Kar event!

These meetings were so much fun. I really enjoy learning how to build things and think about uses for what we are making. I am excited to use my table and chair for our upcoming camp. See you next time!
