Hello everyone! Our Cubs meeting included a very interesting and eco-friendly adventure. And you’re in luck, your favourite reporter, Benjamin Zammit will be writing this article.
With sunny skies and warmer temperatures, we walked along the Bruce Trail cleaning up garbage. We walked 3.3 KM from Flanders Drive [Waterdown] to Burlington’s City View Park. Not only did we get a lot of exercise we were also helping the environment, and the wildlife around the trail!
Overall we collected about 5 bags of garbage! The most common thing we found was cigarette butts. One way to help reduce littering would be to have garbage cans along the trail. At one point in the walk we even found an old pair of underwear! I mean how did that get there?
During our walk, Scouters Mike and Mark accompanied us [which doesn’t normally happen and was a bit of a treat]. Doing this activity counts towards our Outdoor Adventure Skills badges, such as Trail Skills #1 & 2 and the Cub Personal Achievement, Community Badge.
And that’s a wrap on our meeting! I hope you enjoyed reading my article and take action in your community!
