From Scouts Canada available resources, to 3rdWaterdown Group-specific tips and tricks the Scouter Resources page is dedicated to making your life as a Volunteer easier.
Every adventure and meeting has its risks, and when planned properly those risks are minimized not eliminated. (such is life) Scout Safe is an app designed by Scouters to make documenting and filling your incident reports easier and more efficient. Once logged the team at Scouts Canada can help guide you to appropriate follow up and you can easily update outcomes and how those involved are doing after the incident.
Recommended to me at a regional training session in Oakville, what3words I believe (I’ve never used it yet) give you three words to tell search and rescue that correlates to your location. Lost in the woods on an adventure, launch the app, 3 words are generated tied to your coordinates and allows search and rescue, first responders a fast unambiguous way to locate you and your group. Just tell them the 3 Words.
What Scouters career would be complete without learning knots. For those of us clueless this app is a hidden gem giving you step by step easy to follow guides on Knots. If you learn the basics, why not support the app developer and upgrade and unlock the more complicated Knots. 🙂
*apps above are free downloads available on iOS via the iTunes store, not sure about GooglePlay Store availability.
