Last night we split our Pack into two, one pack met at Sealy Hall and went on the Scarecrow Hike and the other Pack met at Guy Brown to officially welcome new members to our pack in our ceremony we call Investiture. New Cubs were given the opportunity to pledge the Cub Motto: “Do your Best! Do our Best!” (DOB), our Cub Promise “The Cub respects the Old Wolf, The Cub respects himself/herself.” and finally our Cub Law “I promise to do my best, to be true to myself, to do my duty to my country; to keep the law of the Wolf Cub Pack, and to do a good turn for somebody every day.” These pledges form the foundation of Cub Scouting and are not meant to be just words repeated. We plan on upholding our Cubs to these standards and the promises made, at every Scouting event, so please review with them the significance of the pledge they have made. 🙂 New Cubs received their neckers and 3rdWaterdown Badges that need to be sewn on according to the following guide document.
After our ceremony, we briefly discussed Geocaching before the Pack voted to get outside for a light night hike to test our luck at Geocaching. Sometimes being youth-led works out cause the gym was quite warm and I think the change in pace was well received. 🙂 I’m glad to report that we were successful in locating the first Geocache (depicted by a smiley face in the photo above). We will try to slot building and hiding our first GeoCache into one of our upcoming meetings.
