My kids have been in Scouts since my eldest was in Sr Kindergarten, (6 years) and yesterday I experienced my first Beaver Buggy’s race. From entrants such as Hazmat, Fast and Furriest to Golden Beaver and Unicorn, Beavers (SK to Grade 2) decorate and race their Beaver Buggies built from kits. (Some parental assembly of wheels required)
The precursor to Kub Kars, where Cubs design and shape their race cars, Beaver Buggies serve as an intro to racing where the Beavers get to be as creative and expressive with their Buggies as they like. The emphasis, as always, having fun and doing your best!
The kids really got into the racing excitement with some sibling rivalries ending in cheers and some tears.
I usually cringe at the thought of attending youth events with kids so young but it really was an enjoyable night watching and taking photos of our Beaver Buggy Rally night.
Thank you to all the volunteer leaders whose dedication and hard work makes the Scouting program possible, and to all the parents who come out to encourage and support our Beavers. Amazing job!
